Re: ADS-B for G1000/TDI/KAP 140
It's Garmin and Diamond that's stiffing us on price and functionality. For the KAP140, Non-WAAS DA42 it's a new antenna, and a Garmin GTX345R with the WAAS GPS built in. That will make 3 independent GPS systems in the aircraft. Diamond will not support a software upgrade on the G1000 platforms that ...

Re: DA42 BASF coolant
The Diamond manual is not as clear as the Thielert maintenance manual. I was able to further review the last log entry that said it was filled with Zerex G05 ($12 premixed or $17 for dilution). I got a low coolant light when I started up this weekend but it went out at the increase in temp so we nee...

DA42 BASF coolant
Anyone know a source for the coolant for the DA42? Looks like it's a G48 coolant and I found that Zerex makes one with the G48 designation but still it's difficult to find a source online. The BASF coolant is almost impossible to find outside of Europe.

Re: New to Forum, Here for TKS
Joel Did you get my windshield pump for overhaul? I have not heard back. Looking at how complex the system is I think $15k would be a bargain for a DA40 install. The 42 leading edge for the wings are molded to accept the stainless inserts- 40 is not so a retrofit is probably not cost effective. I wo...

Re: DA41 ? Let's design it!
My panel does not shake. The three bladed composite propellers do not shake- the 2 bladed Metal Hartzell ones do. Advantage is the Hartzell is far more robust than the composite. Wish they made a Hartzell composite for the DA42. The XLT has about a foot shorter wingspan than my old one does. I thin...

Re: TKS Pump Controller Failure
The windshield pumps are under a panel in the baggage compartment on the pilot side. CAV will rebuild old pumps for about $4-500 if you send it to them but they are running several months behind. In the meantime I purchased two used serviceable pumps from Dodson for $500 each (the pumps I purchased ...

Re: TKS Fluid
Has anyone tried to purchase the separate ingredients and tried to mix? It does not seem to be significantly cheaper to do it this way unless you mix it in 300 gallon increments. It's the shipping costs that get you.

Re: TKS Pump Controller Failure
Just replaced both windshield pumps as they had failed. The assumption is that only one pump had possibly worked for a while or had limited use then finally the second pump failed. Also found the windshield solenoid on one of the pumps had also failed after we replaced both pumps. We then did a full...
