Re: What should air traffic control call ADA 40?

ATC usually calls my DA40 a "DiamondStar", and I usually hear DA42's called "TwinStars", but once I was called a "Katana". YMMV. :D

Re: Basic Med changes effective 12-NOV-2024

I thought I also saw where they fixed it so that pilots on Basic Med can now legally act as a safety pilot for practice approaches, but I can't find any reference to that in the document. Does anyone know if that's true or not?
That changed a couple of years ago.
More specifically it took effect ...

If you're non-WAAS, I'm gonna be you have 321.22 and there is no banana in that version. Just a guess though...

Re: Garmin 0321.23

Hi sorry old thread but flying with my CFII today in my 08 DA40XL and couldn’t find the banana arc I had been so used to seeing in the rental C172 trainers (most older than our Da40XL).

Is this STILL the case?!
It should be there if you have the 0321.23 software. As I recall, you need to turn it ...

Re: DA40 GI-275 install FAIL!

Just to clarify, the GI-275 DOES fit in the non-NG variant of the DA40. I replaced the OEM attitude indicator in my 2007 DA40 with a GI-275 and it fits just fine. I'm guessing the layout behind the panel must be different for the NG?

Anyhow, it sounds like Garmin needs to clarify their STC for ...

Wow - what a great video! I don't think you or your daughter ever stopped smiling!

I had the privilege of riding in the '909 before she was lost in 2019 - an experience I will never forget. My dad was a B17 navigator back in the day and I spent a good part of my flight sitting pretty much where you ...

Re: Rear Door departs a DA40 after takeoff

I think I remember a series of such DA40 rear-door departures some years ago that prompted an AD to beef up the latching mechanism. I wonder if that AD was performed on this particular aircraft.

Rear Door departs a DA40 after takeoff

I found this on LiveATC last night:

https://forums.liveatc.net/atcaviation-audio-clips/diamond-da-40-diamond-star-lost-door-leaving-buffalo/

Shortly after takeoff from KBUF yesterday, a DA40 (N568CA) pilot reported he was returning to the field after his rear door departed the aircraft. The ...

Re: DA40 N453DS engine fire in Utah KSPK

There is a thread here on LiveATC with a link to the news story and the CTAF audio from the Mayday call and subsequent landing and fire. Much credit to the pilot for keeping his cool and getting it on the ground with an engine fire.
