GTX-345R / Garmin Pilot AHRS Issue

My GTX-345R failed and had to be replaced. After it was replaced, the Attitude Indicator on Garmin Pilot (Android) has a red "X" and the Synthetic Vision screen has an "AHRS FAIL" indication. My G1000 AHRS is working fine. I am assuming GP gets its AHRS data from the GTX-345R. Do...

Re: No-drip oil filter change - with pics!

What are your thoughts on the easy oil change "anti-splat" tool featured on AOPA Pilot:

They claim the filter will prevent debris from re-entering the engine.

Re: Turn Coordinator and KAP 140

So I went out today and tested the ROL mode and the 2:00 minute turns in some very lumpy air. The ROL mode worked perfectly. Wings level for more than 5 minutes. The 2:00 turns were 2:29 to the right and 2:29 to the left. Identical times!! The KAP 140 tracks straight and level perfectly and intercep...

Re: Turn Coordinator and KAP 140

I'm not sure it's totally failing (i.e. red flag). When the TC was going bad in my Skyhawk, it was just really lagging which I suspect may be happening in my DA40 but I have no way of seeing that in flight. Still begs the question, if I replace my TC, will I have to make any adjustments in my autopi...

Turn Coordinator and KAP 140

I'm thinking my TC might need replacement (kind of noisy on shutdown). It's 18 years old. I'm wondering if the KAP 140 will require "adjustment" when I replace the TC. If so, I will take it to an avionics shop, otherwise I'll just get my A&P to replace it. The unfortunate part of this ...

Re: DA40 CFI Maryland

Slightly off topic but if you buy a new DAxx, does Diamond provide free flight training? For example, if you don't have a pilot's certificate and you buy a DA40 does Diamond provide free PPL training? Likewise, does Diamond provide free ME training if you purchase a DA42 or DA62? Years ago, I recall...

Re: Best Place for initial training

I see you are in Cleveland.

I have used Midwest Corporate Air in Bellefontaine and been very pleased with their multi-engine instruction in Diamonds.

Re: Ceramic coating and/or window treatments

I have been using Technicians Choice TEC582 Ceramic Detail Spray … While it is not a "permanent" ceramic coating, it seems to last a very long time. I'm thinking of using it on my DA40. Hi Tim. Did you try it on your plane? Does this product actually lay down a ceramic barrier or is it a ...

Re: Ceramic coating and/or window treatments

I have been using Technicians Choice TEC582 Ceramic Detail Spray on my car with excellent results. It's very easy to apply (spray on wipe off). While it is not a "permanent" ceramic coating, it seems to last a very long time. I'm thinking of using it on my DA40. One note of caution (and th...

Re: Charger and battery

Thanks MarkA. I assume you used the BM-AIK2A.

Do you know where the leads attach to the electrical system on the airplane?
