Tie down straps can be unruly. I finally figured out a trick to tame them. I wrap the straps carefully around the ratchet then place the bundle in a rubber glove, the type of glove you use when changing oil.

Re: Changing oil filter
See this thread.
"The L-bracket is 1" (2.5 cm) thin-wall aluminum, safety-wired to the fuselage. This wedges nicely into the opening directly beneath the filter."

Re: Rotating Tires to Even Out Wear- DA-40
I have the same wear pattern, inside wears more. I do my own tire changes and I did a rotate for the first time last year. I’m pleased with the results and wish I had done this all along. I plan to rotate the tires once for each new set from now on.

Re: G1000 MFD Fan Failure alert
I had on the first flight after I bought my DA40. There is small fan,1 inch square, just behind the MFD, or PFD. It looks like a small computer fan. It’s a very quick replacement for an avionics shop. Most likely, you need a new fan. I think the bill for parts and labor was $400.0-ish but I don’t re...

Re: Thinking of DA40 after SR22
I think you nailed it with points 1, 2 and 3. I have not owned a Cirrus but I have around 20 hours in a rental. Point 1) I’m much more comfortable flying my DA40 compared to the Cirrus and I have 40 years/18,000 hours. Point 2) I have found the DA40 to very reasonable for maintenance cost. I do chan...

Re: CHT Probe failure with advanced warning
Excellent point. It was very strange that the CHT display in the cockpit on the G1000 was not jumping around like the download data. When it was climbing towards redline it went at a rate of 1 degree per 3 seconds, just slow enough to make me uncomfortable. There must be some filtering of the displa...

CHT Probe failure with advanced warning
My #1 CHT shot up after landing at an alarming rate, past 460. It was disconcerting but not unexpected. https://apps.savvyaviation.com/flights/4788012/daa4d027-ecb8-490e-b5f1-dfaa30d0f4b5 Starting around five flights ago the G1000 data was showing a sawtooth pattern on the #1 CHT data. https://apps....

Re: Amsafe SOARS airbag seat belt system
Hi Mert,
Did your shop mention a price for parts? I’m having mine done soon and I'll post the price when I find out for sure.
Thanks,
Scott

Re: New Nose Wheel Fin
I’ve done 5 or so flights with the fin. For me it’s been a treat. I tried tightening the nose wheel nut and that seemed to work, for a short time. After that, at least half the flights the yaw was uncomfortably out of whack. I had the choice to hold the rudder pedal or fly wing down. Neither were sa...
