Re: Revamped Diamond North America website - Lycoming DA40 model killed off?

Welcome to the world of Diamond Aircraft orphan owners. My A1 was orphaned years ago. Peter Maurer (Diamond Canada President) told me when my airplane was 10 years old "you can't expect us to support an airplane we no longer produce". I told him I strongly disagreed with his position. Chri...

Re: Fixing hangar rash at auto shop

I agree with Cary. While the auto shop repairs on a composite fairing may be perfectly acceptable from a structural and cosmetic standpoint, they are generally not legal on a certified airframe.

Re: Wheel fairing spider cracks in paint

We sent our carbon fiber wheel pants back to Diamond for repairs and repainting more than once. The cost was well over $600, although the repairs and painting were of very high quality - the fairings looked new. The older fiberglass fairings that were on our first DA40 were much more durable. Re: Safety stats - DA40 v SR20 and SR22

We really don't want to see any numbers from Russia. What percentage of the DA40-NG Tundra fleet has been lost to stall/spin accidents? How many people died? I find it remarkable that absolutely no one in the press is investigating this explosive topic. They are quick to praise new leather and stic...

Re: Diamond Windscreen cost

Welcome to the world of certified aircraft parts pricing. In addition, I think we are frequently the victim of Euro-USD exchange rates, although I don't see the pricing tied directly to that - otherwise prices would change daily. Shipping costs even from Canada to the U.S are outrageous at times. I ...

Re: Diamond Windscreen cost

I don't have a current price list, nor a complete one - but the 2013 price list only shows part number 20-5600-02-01 Canopy, Plexiglass, Grey Tint EA $3,568.95 01/07/13 R.

Re: Cowl Fastners

Your best bet is to contact Diamond directly with your serial number/tail number and have them verify the part numbers used on your particular airplane. Then check Aircraft Spruce for the SS equivalents. The IPC is not always accurate, especially for the A1 models of the DA20.

Re: Cowl Fastners

The fasteners on the A1 and C1 cowlings are Camloc brand. You should be able to order SS replacements from one of the various parts houses like Aircraft Spruce. I assume there would be no issue shipping them to Barbados.

Re: Prebuy Results

If you had told me that airplane had 5000 hours, not 500, I would have been more inclined to believe it. My DA20 that has close to 4000 hours and sat outside for most of it's life before we purchased it - looks way better than this one. I think this airplane is likely to be a maintenance nightmare. ...

Re: 1000 Hour Annual and Hose Replacements

You could ask these questions of Premier at your home base of FXE. My take is if it's not in Chapter 4 (Airworthiness Limitations) of the AMM, then it is not required. Maintenance checks specified in Chapter 5, while recommended, are not mandatory. Premier may feel differently and the IA that signs ...
