Re: Diamond Pilots Association 2023 Survey
I collected European registered aircrafts owners’ addresses (more than 800) crawling through publicly available data at web sites of different European civil aviation agencies. Practically no help of colleague pilots, no help from DAI at all and no help from service shops. Upon collecting data I che...

Re: Checklists and procedure plates
In single pilot environment I use checklists on G1000 MFD and I have laminated ones as a backup. Plates are in ForeFlight on glare shield mounted iPad with iPhone as a backup. In multi pilot environment checklists are laminated (according to SOP) while the plates are in ForeFlight on two iPads mount...

Re: Diamond Pilots Association 2023 Survey
Anyone spending his or her time to complete the survey has a right to see the final survey result. Why? People participate in different surveys and never see the results - political pools, media research, customer satisfaction, scientific data collection... This was always my assumption and, I am i...

Re: Proper single engine shut down / restart in flight
That’s really slow and uncomfortable for clean configuration and single engine operation. I wouldn’t feel comfortable with 80 knots. On the DA62, that's the required speed for a restart in flight. If you have the good engine at 12% and the other engine feathered, you aren't really "single engi...

Re: Proper single engine shut down / restart in flight
but if the issue of windmilling, specifically, causes "stress" on timing chain - how does it do that and why doesn't electric start cause same issue? I'm also puzzled with this but since I don't fly the aircraft with Austro Engine I didn't invest much effort in researching the topic. Howe...

Re: DA62 USB Ports
The problem with using iPad as a kneeboard is moving head down and up. In IMC when you’re cross checking approach plates it can be confusing if not dangerous. iPad in field of view (glare shield or attachment mounted) is much better solution for various reasons, cooling included. Where do you keep ...

Re: Proper single engine shut down / restart in flight
If you have enough height, as you should in training, pull the operating engine back to 12-15%, so you don't have to deal with yaw and the risk of losing directional control. Let the airplane descend gently while maintaining 80 knots. That’s really slow and uncomfortable for clean configuration and...

Re: Exploring professional path
It’s all about taking my lifetime passion to another level. Last year it was 40 years since I started to fly and I’ve never thought about turning it to a profession. But it happened.

...over-priced western economies... The old US/Eurocentric era of dominance and control is nearly over. We still earn our bread in these over-priced western economies and Chinese won't give us any. This situation is the result of shortsighted run-for-profit and must-growth policy in years when prod...
