A long while ago, I thought there was a Diamond type club, which I recall joining very briefly using a guest membership. There was enough negative acrimony between a number of members that I never formally joined. I found DAN about the same time. Anyone remember the history?

There was a recent AD which has caused a lot of engine replacements that was the result of a manufacturing defect.
You are likely seeing the result of this in the market place right now.

It’s much more complicated than Lycoming overhaul and requires expensive test bench. If Austro concluded that it’s cheaper to produce new engine than to overhaul the old one then the same mathematics applies to any company.
