Re: GWX75 is certified
New G1000 NXi software has also been released for the DA62: http://support.diamond-air.at/fileadmin/uploads/files/after_sales_support/DA62/Service_Bulletins/SB62-003-M-8-Software-for-G1000.pdf It supports the GWX75 hardware, and this new NXi software includes multiple GWX80 files that may be for the...

Re: Insurance vs. age
Rich, you're giving me hope that I'll still be insurable in a DA40 when I'm your age. I'm assuming that when I turn 70 in a few years that I'll no longer be insurable to fly single pilot in a 1200 hp turbine cruising 300+ knots at FL340 -- so I'll be forced to sell our Epic. At that point the plan i...

Re: New owner insurance rates on DA42 NG?
Wow, $65K for a 2006 DA42NG is ridiculously high. That high a premium might be expected for a low-time or older pilot flying a brand new DA62, not for an older DA42. I'm guessing this quote is because neither you nor your instructor have any DA42 time in type. Normally you might expect a range of mo...

Re: DA62 oil consumption
Having owned a DA42-VI for 4 years and a DA62 for 5 years, I saw similar oil consumption on each of the pair of Austro engines. Oil was always topped off to MAX fill line after every 100 hour oil change, then: - By about 70 hours oil dropped to the MIN fill line, indicating use of 2 liters during th...

Re: Quick Tip: Pop-up IFR Clearance
I'll be over a city with nothing, yet I had solid 5G in the middle of absolute nowhere at 11,000ft. Actually that makes perfect sense: Mobile phone cellular antennas all have horizontal radiation patterns to service people on the ground. So if you're flying right above a city you'll get little or n...

Re: GMA 1360/G1000 NXi: Passengers can't hear com radio
Here's a video of my GMA options. Tell me what looks different from mine vs those of you who have pax headsets that can hear COM radios. You're not imagining things. From the video it's pretty clear that your DA42 is missing the option: "While passenger in ICS, route selected COM audio to pass...

Re: GMA 1360/G1000 NXi: Passengers can't hear com radio
I'm sorry that you're having trouble fixing this. As described in this thread from back in 2021: https://www.diamondaviators.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=83368#p83368 1. Boot the G1000 NXi in Configuration Mode. 2. Select the GMA audio panel "page group" at the bottom of the page 3. Scroll th...

Re: Descent power and rates
On Diamond diesels, when you pull power to idle (or near idle) crossing the runway threshold to land, you're causing windmilling prop(s) to drive the engine via the gearbox. Especially on DA42/DA62 twins with 2 windmilling props, this creates a huge amount of additional drag that helps to bleed off ...

Re: Jet shades installation
Are you saying that the thinner version 2 shades will stay inplace with friction and not require gluing on the clips ?? I don't know what you mean by "version 2". The ones I got with the airplane back in March, yes! No need to glue anything. For my DA62 I had the original JetShades (i.e.,...
