Re: Data Card File structures

Bringing this topic back, hopefully for comment. Garmin editor saves only in gcl format. Loaded my edited gcl onto MFD lower SD card. No CHKLIST softkey appeared. Running 0321.23 on a 2008 DA40XLS with GFC700 so it should be there. Any ideas? Do I need to rename the file to chklist.ace? I can't ...

Re: G1000 question

Also note that Synthetic Vision (SVT) is an option that must be purchased and installed, so you aren't going to find it in all Diamonds. Only one of the DA40's at our local flight school has SVT installed.

Re: Buying a first aircraft help

Good tip thanks. Have pictures indeed it does not have a VNV button. Also asked the dealer and he said he doesn't think it has it . If by "doesn't have it", you mean WAAS, then I would say $330k is definitely overpriced! If it has WAAS but just not VNV, then it may not be (depending on condition ...

Re: Buying a first aircraft help

The VNV button on the MFD bezel is not necessarily the determining factor for WAAS in the XL. My 2007 XL had the WAAS upgrade (so GIA63W's), but they did not upgrade the MFD so no VNV button. I agree with the others that WAAS is a big deal, both functionally and cost-wise, but I think the VNV button ...

My new knob came with the ring already inside it. You need one (and only one!) ring inside the new knob.

A different 'Miracle on the Hudson' perspective...

Yesterday was the 14th anniversary of Sully's landing of Flight 1549 on the Hudson River. I ran across this post this morning on another aviation website I frequent and thought it was share-worthy:

“He’s okay but…” - these three words have stayed with me for, well now, half my life.
As a society ...

Re: Maintenance purchasing

I have bought a number of Diamond-specific parts directly from Premier Aircraft in Florida . They have some of their inventory posted online, or you can call them at 800-903-8402. They are a major Diamond Service Shop and will sell parts directly to the public. In my experience, for parts they have ...

Re: Individual knobs for G1000 Displays Available

The trick with replacing the G1000 knobs is that there is a metal ring inside the knob that fits tightly over the shaft. If you remove the old knob and the metal ring stays on the shaft, you will never be able to push the new knob onto the shaft. Once you remove the old knob, look very carefully and ...

Re: Panel vibration / rattle

Thank you, Rich. Yes, I meant the instrument cover, not the glare shield. I am one of the afore-mentioned guilty parties

For clarity, I will correct my previous post.

Re: Panel vibration / rattle

Brian,

I had a squeaky rattle in the dash of my 2004 DA40. Someone suggested I put some small pieces of duct tape between the instrument panel cover and the panel where it was rubbing, and that helped quite a bit. In my case, I could see places where the metal was rubbing on the back of the black ...
