Re: Sailplane tape on DA40
Chris, what size tape is that you used in the pics? Also, is that the Bowlus brand, or something else?

Re: Air Vent Noise
I ended up taping off the bottom half. When I taped off the top half, I as well did get a significant increase in airflow (overwhelming, actually), but the noise did not diminish for me nearly as much as taping off the bottom half.

Re: Air Vent Noise
WOW! Just completed my first warm weather trip with half the inlets taped, and what a joy. Nothing short of magic! Fully open vents and barely any increased noise over closed, yet still with great airflow. Needless to say I'm thrilled that I started this topic 8 pages ago. Thanks for everyone's help.

Re: Landing light cover rubber washers???
OK. Home Depot sells neoprane washers in the hardware aisle drawers. The 1/4" ones are a perfect replacement fit. Only downside is they are black, not gray, but as a set you don't really notice the color difference. And they are only 86 cents per pack of 4!

Re: Landing light cover rubber washers???
Looks like I may have found some neoprene washers at HD that may work I had overlooked the last time I was there, but they are black not gray. I will report back after I make it out to my plane. Incidentally, the official Diamond washers are > $4 each per the price list!

Re: Landing light cover rubber washers???
Thanks Doug,
It looks like they do huge quantities and have a minimum shipping charge of $25.

Landing light cover rubber washers???
Anyone know of somewhere easy to get an equivalent replacement for the gray rubber washers that go under the screws holding the light cover on? I have looked at Lowes, Home Depot, etc, but nothing even close.

Re: Sailplane tape on DA40
That tape looks like it would be a great alternative to the grey wing root molding that covers the gap where the wings hook on. The Diamond wing root seal is not only a royal pain to get on/in, but it degrades quickly over time and get little micro-cracks all over it. What do you think?

Re: Air Vent Noise
Antoine- I had a similar experience when I tried using a lighter clear plastic packing tape on the vent. After level off, and increase in airspeed, it sounded like an orchestra of bongos coming out of the vents. It was the first time I tried that tape, so I figured it was that, and then after a few ...

Re: Concorde Battery
Someone earlier had mentioned a brief high current test as an alternative test, with brief mention to the starter doing such. Looking though my data logs, my volts usually draw down to 19.6-20.5 range for 1 second, before then returning to around 24. My plane usually turns over near instantly, so I ...
