Re: DA40 G1000 GFC700 VNAV
Lol. Just landed and messed this up after watching, thinking about it, and knowing what to do. I didn’t set the altitude lower as I hit the TOD. Know how it works. Know better. Just not an intuitive step for me.

Re: DA40 G1000 GFC700 VNAV
Really nice presentation. You explained the gotchas very well. Those are difficult to remember unless you use the VNAV function frequently. We mostly use the altitude selector as a reminder of what altitude we’re going to or where we’re staying. Therefore, it’s hard to remember that the altitude sel...

Re: Air Conditioning use and Synthetic vision
A/C: I didn’t want the A/C when I bought a used DA40 XLS but I’m glad I have it. Ground operations and lower flights in the spring through fall (in KY) are very pleasant. As you climb, the compressor may be off but the air circulation is more pleasant to me than the open and noisy vents. Of course, ...

Re: GTX345 Bluetooth Disconnecting?
This seems to be a common occurrence with the DA40 installation. There are other forum topics with more information and DIY options to get a more reliable signal.
I just resorted to having my stratus on as well.

Re: Cabin Heat when in hanger
Somebody has to say it...maybe get a different girlfriend?
I use a twin hornet for the engine warmup but it could easily be used as a cabin warmer too. I have it plugged in to an smart plug in the hangar and can control the plug’s on/off via a phone app.

An electric Best tug and some rubber threshold ramps work for me in a similar situation.

Re: MFD North Up or Track Up?
Track up on MFD and north up on iPad. Why? Both views have benefits. If I could only have one view I would choose track up because I like the relative perspective for location of obstacles, traffic, weather, approach routes, etc. Its more intuitive for me to glance down and see what’s around relativ...

Re: First flight of the retractable DA50
My prediction is that the Panthera outsells DA50 in the US. I’ll be ready for something other than my DA40 in 3-4 yrs. the DA50 as advertised won’t get a look. Better options at those prices are available. I’ve never cared for a parachute as the pilot but every non-pilot that flies with me states th...

Re: GFC700 went offline
I was descending via VS mode today with my GFC700 autopilot and got the aural alert with the red AFCS box on the PFD. Soon after that alert, the alert changed to a red PFT box. There was a data path failure alert that also showed up in the G1000 alert section. The flight director was working normall...
