Re: What comes after a DA40?
They say Mooneys are hard to land, and like to float and porpoise and all that, and perhaps its true, but a relatively slick DA40 and its low wing is a good stepping stone for the flight characteristics of the M20 line. That said, it is a much faster airplane in all phases of flight so you need to ...

Re: iPad intégration on the panel
I have the similar (vintage) panel that you do, and have my iPad mini attached with the Angerole mount. The mount is screwed to one of the unused 3.25 inch panel cutouts, and is extremely sturdy. It took a little bit of adjusting to get it to not obstruct my view of any of the instruments, but I am ...

Re: 2004 Diamond Da40 G1000 always running Hobbs meter
As far as I know, all the 2004s (and earlier models) came with the Hobbs from the factory. There is an oil pressure switch and a relay in the circuit. A stuck relay or low battery voltage, in addition to a bad pressure switch, could allow the Hobbs to run when the engine is off. The wiring diagram f...

Re: Possible Airworthiness Issue for 2001-05 DA40s
Per this recently released FAA notification, changes to the airworthy limitations are NOT mandatory to do. Although it's a bit confusing, after reading it a few times, appears to say only the original airworthy requirements submitted with the original type design are mandatory, unless the new ones ...

Re: Twin or Single
Being that I own a single, I endeavor to fly profiles that ensure that when over water, I am able to glide to shore (or very close to it) if my engine fails. The only two large bodies of water I routinely cross are Lake Ponchartrain (not at its widest point) and Mobile Bay. I ensure that my altitude...

Re: Diamondfest anyone?
I'm on the mailing list (have gone twice in the past), but I usually get notified only 10-14 days prior to the event. Not really enough time to plan international travel (even though I'm retired).gordsh wrote:Email sales (sales@diamondair.com) and ask to be put you on the mailing list.

Re: uAvionix ADS-B out solution
...Hopefully uAvionix would source the same strobe so it would be plug and play for that. I've worked on my Whalen lights and it is pretty easy to replace any of the components. No way of avoiding having to have the Nav lights on all the time with this design. Will see where this goes. They won't u...

Red annunciation light in downward-facing antenna wouldn't be visible from cockpit in low wing aircraft.

Re: Rudder tab
I don't think I have ever seen an aileron tab. That's interesting. From my mechanic, you are not meant to even bend the tab without being an A&P. He never charged to do it, but he said it was messing with the flight controls and that's not something operators are allowed to do. That is quite tr...

Re: Rudder tab
You can bend it, but cannot remove it without re-balancing the rudder.
