I currently fly a Piper Arrow based out of Georgetown Texas but hope to fly a DA40 one day.

Hi Chris. Welcome to the forum!

I hope you are successful in finding a DA40 soon - I think you will love it. What are you looking for - any special preferences, glass or not, etc. Some of the members of this forum may be able to help you locate something to suit you. I'm sorry you are having some trouble actually buying one (I saw your other post) - with the market as it is now, you would think it would be easier to close a deal. Maybe this is a sign things are finally turning around, though...

Hello Datadriver aka Chris

Greetings from Australia

Having done a few hours in a piper arrow, in fact I did my CPL - commercial pilots licence test in a Piper Arrow, I can asure you that the DA 40 in a much nicer plane to fly. Faster and also much more economical.

Good luck finding a DA 40

Cheers

Robin

Well, thanks for the encouragement. A heaping pile of cash would probably have put me over the top by now. As it is, my situation forces me to look at a narrow group of aircraft under 200k that still have a g1000 and gdl69a( my wish list ).

The Arrow has never failed to carry me from runway to runway in over 300+ hours, but I sat in a da40 at the Texas Aircraft Expo last spring, later flew one, and got hooked.

I'm reminded of the old aviation story of the instructor bouncing along in a c152 looking up and wishing instead that he was flying the jet overhead. Meanwhile the jet pilot is looking up at the space shuttle wishing he was commander. Meanwhile, the shuttle commander is looking down at the jet contrail wishing he was flying the jet.

Ah Chris

I am happy flying my DA40, one of my mates flies 737s for Qantas. He reckons the DA40 has got more advanced avionics than they have. I like my PFD and MFD. He says he would like my avionics in the 737.

Cheers

So true...I was chatting to a couple of pilots on an A320 before we pushed back and they were wished they had GPS and avionics of the Diamond. What they have is more redundancy but less advanced equipment.

Hi Chris:

Not too far from you (based at 1T7). I have a 2001 DA40. Sometimes I fly up to Georgetown when my son has a tennis tournament. I'll shoot you an email if you want to see a 'vintage' Star.
