So this is an appeal for all of you to come! Well, 'all' may be a bit overdone, Menorca is the smallest island of the Balearics, and we don't want it to sink.. But let's at least beat the 50 Cirruses that showed up there last year and had a ball!
The dates have not been fixed yet. We are looking at 7,8,9 or 14,15,16 of June. Inputs as to preferences are welcome.
Menorca is a great destination. The island is attractive, and the airfield of San Luis (LESL) is something special. A perfect 2 km runway (refurbished by Ferrari years ago to do some secretive testing...), an aeroclub, and a great meat griller, right next to the platform. No landing fees, no tower. It is like flying in the US!
The airfield is right next to the capital, the very attractive town of Mahon, with its splendid harbour. It is easy to understand that Admiral Nelson chose his base there when the Brits rules the island. You will see plenty of British architecture. What more do you want. British style, and Spanish sun! And the food is excellent too. Did you know that the Mayonnaise sauce, is really 'Mahonesa', so originated in Menorca? Well, Frenchmen, don't shoot the messenger, this is what the Menorquins told me
A combination trip to visit Majorca and/or Ibiza on your way in or out is of course also an option.
Note that Menorca has a major airport right next to LESL, so even if the weather is iffy, an instrument approach into Menorca is assured.
We will be taking care of finding hotel space, and arranging logistics.
