This site looks to be really useful even on this side of the pond.
To see how well it works, I flight planned a trip to Boston, which right now is in the middle of a huge snowstorm as part of a major "nor-easter". I really like the way the site shows the altitudes in which to expect icing and turbulence along your planned route.
