Proud Owner of Pre-Owned 2016 DA62!!
Good Evening Everyone,
After a 4 month process we finally closed today on a pre-owned oversees DA 62. We are now the proud owners of 62.042 out of Qatar.
It will be hopefully only a week or 2 for Diamond to finish the squawks at Wiener Neustadt and getting the DAR approval, then the ferry across the pond back to her new home.
A shout out to Dave Coleman and his team at Duncan Aviation for their excellent expertise in oversees transactions. Dave is a IADA certified broker. I strongly believe that any person seriously considering a international purchase to look into IADA brokers as there are areas that are some big gotchas if you aren’t aware of them.
It was a fantastic process. Exciting most times and scary and frustrating other times. Patience is the key right now considering the state of the market. We started back in February and it will be a 6th month process. I learned a lot during the whole process and now it’s time to really start learning about the aircraft, and diving deeper into the forums to educate myself.
Updates coming once they get the new registration and US markings in the aircraft.
Safe and happy travels to all!

My DA62 also came from Qatar. If yours was from the same sheikh/flight school as mine (62.051) it was probably impeccably maintained and well documented.
One gotcha to look out for - ADS-B out must be reconfigured to match your new N number with the data being broadcast. Mine was not, and (not knowing it was incompletely configured) I got violated for flying into Class B airspace without transmitting ADS-B out after a year of flying around in the USA. There is no indication in the cockpit that you are or are not broadcasting ADS-B out correctly, but you can check this website to verify: https://adsbperformance.faa.gov/PAPRRequest.aspx

Thank you Rob for the heads up. To my knowledge they have changed the N number, ELT and transponder code at Diamond Austria. It will definitely get double checked when she arrives home.
The aircraft will hopefully be going through the import process with KBUF customs tomorrow.

My factory delivered DA40NG had the wrong N-number in the GTX345R which was brought to my attention by an ATC controller in Indiana or Texas. Definitely use the FAA test site to see what you are really broadcasting:
