Robin's Christmas get away

Post by Robin »

Hello

I had to work as I was on call over the Christmas holidays, had to go in for emergencies nearly every day! Finally my daughter and I were able to get away last week, unfortunately my wife Jane as working so could not come with us.

We flew upto Swan Hill. This was north of the flooding rains, further south towards Melbourne it was flooding!. As I write this 10 days later now Swan Hill is about to be flooded!

We saw the floods on the way up. Some of the towns have now been cut off for 10 days.

The town of Boort is surrounded by flood water.

We arrived at Swan Hill, the local flying club was surrounded by water.

Arriving home, I got vectored over the CBD -central business district of Melbourne, to join the ILS for Runway 26 Essendon. Was visual, but the controller was happy for me to do an ILS to keep current.

Some shots of the CBD, and also the coast to the south of Melbourne.

Wow! I can't believe it. A very nice report on things we don't even get to see on TV here. It's nice to have embedded photo journalists in and above the clouds in Oz.
