Avalon Airshow - Australia

Post by Robin »

Hello

You will be pleased to hear that the Biennial Avalon Airshow is on at the moment.

Diamond is well represented. My DA 40 XLS is on display for the airshow. I flew the plane down to Avalon last Sunday. The weather was awful, a solid stratus cloud 600' AGL at my home base. Solid IFR all the way down. The Avalon ILS lost its GP (Glide path) so I had to fly a localizer approach, Fortunately the cloud lifted to 1500 AGL at Avalon. I was cleared to land, and the tower came back warning there would be traffic to my right as I became visual. The TCAS went crazy! There were 4 USAF F-16s in close formation, 100metres to my right, awesome!!!!!

I went to the trade show today, you will be pleased to know that there was lot of interest in the Diamonds!

Some photos are attached.

I am an avid DA 40 pilot, but I have some twin leanings, some photos of me looking at the DA 42 on display at the airshow!

That sounds more like a formation of five! During primary training, on my solo long cross country, I got to see the Blue Angles practicing a few kilometers away.

I love air shows. It sounds like you had fun. Thanks for posting your photos.

Great pictures, Robin! I especially liked the Raptor and hope to find someone who wants to exchange his Raptor for my Diamond.

Nice pictures Robin.
Read some where else that Cessna delivered the first C162 (Wow) to Aeromil Pacific for that show. What does it look like ?

Jean

The C 162 was not on display, it will be again this weekend. I am planning to go again on Sunday with my daughter. I shall see if I can get some photos.

The local sales rep has several firm orders for Diamonds, and lots of interest!

Cheers

Hi Everyone

Interestingly the Raptors had Civil Police, Airforce Police with fierce looking guard dogs around the perimeter.

All the other aircraft could be approached and touched!
