Another option for power is something like this... http://www.amazon.com/mophie-powerstati ... juice+pack

I have something similar and always carry it with me in my flight bag, as I don't have a cig lighter in my plane either. I use it strictly for backup power for my ipad/iphone so that I never lose access to ForeFlight while flying. Of course, It would work for the GoPro as well.

For some reason, I really get a kick out of charging it with this... http://www.amazon.com/Anker%C2%AE-Dual- ... B00E3OL5U8 ...although I've yet to have a reason to bring the solar charger in the plane. ;)

haha...well it's always nice to have some extra power in a little box. Saves the day sometimes! But, since you have one, you can definitely use it for GoPro power if needed.

I'm actually going to be flying the West Coast (WA, OR, CA) next week. Am going to start a new thread about the flight later tonight. Maybe we'll cross paths! :D

Posted in my Great Circle thread, but thought I'd toss in in here.

Best 10 minutes of flying I have ever had...

Another video pulled from my Great Circle footage. This is an IFR flight from San Diego (Palomar) to Tucson. Took off into low overcast, then dodged thunderstorms over Arizona.

I have so much footage from the 9 day trip that it's easier, at this point, to pull out certain legs of the trip and put something together. Enjoy!

Well, I haven't posted much about our "great circle" flight chasing Eric. All was going well until yesterday. Took off from Santa Monica and got an R ECU B FAILURE just after lifting off and entering the clouds. Hit the ECU TEST button and it went away. Continued on to Phoenix without a problem (except winds and turbulence). ECU B FAILURE showed again when starting the engine and I could never clear it. Found a shop in Scottsdale that is Thielert certified and flew ( with my fingers crossed) from KIWA to KSDL. The diagnosis at this time is a MAP sensor going bad on ECU B. Since the sensor is located inside the ECU, I need to replace the ECU. This means ordering one from Germany :( Looks like we'll be going home today courtesy of Southwest.

If you remember, I had to replace my left ECU earlier this year.

Well...flew VFR from Charlotte to Ft. Lauderdale...spent about two hours off the Atlantic Coast of Florida at pretty low altitude. Debated what to do with the flight footage, as I know some will not approve. Here is a quick video of 205mph over the Atlantic. Flying the DA42, really my only concern were the birds in close by the beach. Here is a quick taste of the speed off shore!
