Short Outback Trip
Hello
About to set off for a 4 day quick trip to the outback. I am not sure that we will be able to post any reports whilst away. No mobile phone reception, and apparently only dial up internet at some places.
We are planning
YMPC-Pt Cook to YSWH - Swan Hill for fuel.
Then Swan Hill to YWHC - White Cliffs where we will make our base.
Day trip 1 to the Dig Tree. This is a famous icon as it was where the supplies were left for the first explorers to travel Australia from North to South. The Explorers arrived at the supply dump - the dig tree the day after the rescuers left. Unfortunately they all died.
Day 2 - Camerons corner. This is the junction between 3 states - Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australia. There is a pub, a general store, petrol pump, and an airstrip.
Will take pic and videos.
Cheers

Re: Short Outback Trip
Hello
No mobile coverage for me on my network, but my mate with a different carrier had great reception even in remote areas. However way too slow for mobile internet coverage.
Day 1 Friday
Some low cloud was predicted. My step son Rev was flying today, he looked at the forecasts and went back to sleep. I had to quickly go into the clinic, and got home around 10 am, the skies were clear, so we caught up with our mates at the Pt Cook Flying Club.
First leg: YMPC - Pt Cook to YSWH - Swan Hill.
Nice weather - SCT cloud at 3500, slight headwind 10 knots, smooth flying.
Rosslyne Reservoir was the first VFR waypoint, 330 29NM then DCT to Swan Hill 327, 135 NM.
Landed for lunch. Spoke to some old timers at the Mid Murray Flying Club, lots of great stories.
Leg 2. YSWH- Swan Hill DCT YWHC - White Cliffs.
After the green of Southern Australia it quickly turned to desert. However with the good rains we had it was still quite green.
HDG 345 273 NM. Again a 15 knot headwind!
Smooth flying.
Rev was keen to fly without using the GPS, its amazing what you can see in the outback with the WAC charts.
We had a smooth landing.
Off to the underground pub - its very hot here in summer so they live underground where it is 22C all year round!
We had a few beers to celebrate our flight.
Cheers
