Over Yosemite's Tuolumne Meadows

A giant high pressure system covers most of California and Nevada, with clear skies, warm temps and very little wind or turbulence. So on Tuesday a close friend and I decided to venture over Yosemite! We flew to Tahoe for lunch, then down the east side of the Sierras to Mono Lake, then straight across Yosemite's Tuolumne Meadows (north of Yosemite Valley) towards home.

I’m not nearly as good with a camera as the friend who took photos of the first Tahoe trip, but here are a few that turned out OK. Another spectacular day!

I could get used to doing this. Actually, that’s the plan. :D

The only moderately dicey part was the short stretch immediately over Tuolumne Meadows (which is closed for another few months), but we were at 13,500’ and could definitely have found a flat spot if the engine suddenly died. The weather is clear and warm all week, I’ve got lots of warm clothes in the tail, and it would not be hard to find us, particularly with the Spot GPS tracker.
