Saw that on a Russian forum
http://saon.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=7174

DA20/100, 4600km, 26hrs of flight, flew solo, picked a more or less level spot to land on Novaya Zemlya

Very cool pictures on the first page

Watch out for Polar Bears on rollout!

I have a fair amount of hours above the Arctic Circle (US Navy), but all of it in 4 engine turboprops. Many more options...

Охренеть, нифига себе :)

Not too shabby, the guy certainly has the balls. An engine out in many of those places means you're done. Landing over there at Novaja Zemlja certainly tops it.

Great pictures though, great trip. Hat's off.

Moonshine, thanks a bunch! I also read through the rest of the forum. I was not aware of it, a lot of good stuff in there. Though the guys certainly have a different perspective on things. Refreshing, in a way :D

I'll take flying in that environment over flying at night anytime.

In fact, my plane began its life as a commercial air taxi at CYVP and spent a few years there. Not many roads and very few airports in that area https://maps.google.com/maps?q=cyvp&hl= ... q=cyvp&z=6 .

Yeah...with balls that big he might be is exceeding the gross weight limitations of the DA20. :D
