You're all blessed in the states with that sort of landing fees. All in perspective , I paid a whopping 900+ euro's for landing and handling fees at Le Bourget in Paris last year. In dollars would be more than $ 1000,--

Great clip!
Try KILG (Wilmington DE) the next time. Very GA-friendly place.Colin wrote: Obviously, New Castle or Trenton would mean a 40 minute drive, but the Philly airport is a 15 minute drive to begin with. I'd had landed at Trenton and rented a car.

Re: Landing at Philadelphia International Airport
Do you guys use fuel cards? For Jet A the discounts can be substantial. I have one that at KPHL is $5.11. I find myself paying < $3.25 these days and I filled up on $1.99 Jet A a few weeks ago. There's no cheap way out of a NE Corridor busy airport but sometimes it's cheaper for me to fly into a Bravo with a fuel card than a nearby Delta. For example at KPHX (Phoenix) I can buy Jet A for $2.35. That's at least .50c cheaper than at Scottsdale or Deer Valley.

Re: Landing at Philadelphia International Airport
Wow, that is indeed expensive, more even than what you pay at Schiphol (handling through KLM Jet Centre last time I wanted to go, saw that you are based on EHAM, would be great to get some tips, especially how to avoid the compulsory handling there) or even Frankfurt international airport.Keess wrote:You're all blessed in the states with that sort of landing fees. Depending on where you needed to go in Paris, Toussus-Le-Noble (LFPN) and Lognes (LFPL) would have been good inexpensive alternatives (EUR 20-40). LFPN has IFR approaches and departures. For the South/Southeast, Melun (LFPM) would have been a good option as well.
A couple of exceptions aside I have found France and generally Western and Central Europe to be very reasonable. For example, I recently did a cross-channel flight from Biggin Hill (EGKB) to Lille (LFQQ) and paid less than EUR 10 including landing fee, parking, marshalling and car transfers from/to my aircraft stand. Given that Lille is the main international airport in the north of France and it was a non-Schengen flight, I thought that was very reasonable.

Yes, EHAM is our homebase and it's Holland's most expensive airport. The landing is €140,-- and then you get handling fee from KLM jetcentre if you are not based. That would set you back another 350 euro's . On the other hand it is perfect for IFR flying and 24/7 usable. If you are planning to fly to EHAM, send me a pm and see if we can arange something with jetcenter.
Here a video of the return flight from EBAW Antwerp to EHAM with an ILS app rwy 36R followed by a break off rwy 04 . That runway doesn't have an ILS.

The reason I took Le Bourget,it was very near my destination , an exhibition . Next time it will be pontoise , the next closest airport with IFR capability and for sure , less expensive

Re: Landing at Philadelphia International Airport
I have *just* started to use a fuel card and ordered my second. It seems amazing to pay $2.35 a gallon for JetA when I had to pay $7 a gallon for 110LL the week before.

Re: Landing at Philadelphia International Airport
When I first got the DA42 I was paying about $1/gal less for jetA than 100LL. Then I was paying more for JetA for many years. Now JetA is less than 100LL again. Enjoy the savings while you can

Re: Landing at Philadelphia International Airport
Colin, I find jetfuelx.com a really simple way to check fuel card prices when flight planning fuel stops or destination airports. I use UVAir and CAA.

Re: Landing at Philadelphia International Airport
I got AV Fuel first, just got UVAir, got FuelBoss, and have applied for CAA. (Or maybe I just got CAA and I am waiting to hear from UVAir.) That link looks useful, thanks.
Has anyone used the AOPA flight planned that seems to do some interesting fuel price display work on your route?

Re: Landing at Philadelphia International Airport
Ah, that's the thing Foreflight bought. I am hopeful that it will start to sort of show up in Foreflight planning itself.
