I am not sure if there are any places around Indianapolis that are worth spending much time at since the Indy 500 will have ended this weekend. However, if you just want to rest for a fuel stop and some food you are more than welcome to stop at KTYQ and I would be happy to take you for a good meal. It could be a worthwhile place to stop on your way to KOSH.

Servus aus den Bahamas, Robert! First, since I am planning the trip in opposite direction (Nassau to Vienna, Austria) this summer, would be interested in your planning and actual travel experience (Island, Groenland, Canada etc.). Secondly, and I may be conflicted, please come here to the Bahamas! Recommend MYYNN Nassau to have dinner with us (if we're not flying over the Austrian Alps at the same time you're here), MYCB (Fernandes Bay, a pilots' resort, discounts, and always some long trip small planes there), MYES (great snorkelling, iguanas, sharks ...), MYEH (Harbour Island) or MYAM (Hopetown). If you come, we can take this offline, and I give you more tips, and we'll see the dates.

Servus Wolfgang! Great to hear that. We are planning to be to Bahamas around June, 20th. Would be great to meet.
Our routing westbound will be something like LOWL-EHGG, EHGG-EGPE, EGPE-BIRK, BIRK-BGKK, BGKK-BGGH, BGGH-CYFB, CYFB-CYVP, CYVP-CYBG, CYBG-KALB, KALB-KTEB. Maybe we can skip BGKK if winds are favorable. On the eastbound trip we will do BGJN instead of BGGH.
We already did the eastbound trip. There are 3 videos on YouTube (Bahamas Linz in a DA42). Maybe you know these already.
When do you plan to come to Austria?

I suggest KCDW instead of KTEB. A lot friendlier to smaller planes and Uber makes getting into the city just as easy.

As recommended by Colin above, New Orleans is a must! Here a video taken while taking off and overflying, last weekend.

Would like to give a short update. We have been very lucky for the Northatlantic. Routing was LOWL EDLW EGPE BIRK BGSF CYFB CYVP CYRQ KALB KCDW. Didn't need any TKS exceipt for Germany and had mainly tailwinds. :)
Did the Hudson South- and Northbound. Couldn't do Tangier Island due to weather and went to First Flight. From there to KILM to visit friends. Spent a night in Savannah. Then the horse capital of the world Ocala, and from there to Nassau. There we spent 2 nights at Wolfgangs place and had a wonderful time. Thanks a lot to Wolfgang, he is a great host and we enjoyed it very much.
From there we went to Naples, FL (most amazing city) and are now in New Orleans.
So far everything is fine and flying is great in North America. Thanks to all of you for informations.
