AZ in February 2017

Post by Lou »

Last month my wife and I travelled from CZVL to KSFF (Spokane, WA) to visit one of our daughters. Then we went to Sedona (KSEZ) via Ely, NV. While in Sedona we toured the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and the Painted Desert. We flew home via Rawlings WY and KGTF to avoid some heavy weather, and that was great too. This was our first extended trip and a fantastic experience: wonderful sights, people and places.

Forum member Bob Tucker was gracious enough to answer a PM with suggestions and we followed his advice to the 'T'. Thank you Bob!

I'll post a few of my favourite photos, but to tell you the truth, every inch of the way was beautiful. For those of you who fly in the SW all the time - you have it so lucky!

Lou, you are so right! It's beautiful country all the way down from Helena MT to Glendale AZ, flying over the Grand Canyon is one of the most spectacular sights in the world.
Now that I,m planeles I can only imagine...
Hopefully I will be flying over it on a Col400, that wiil be at 185 knots ;) but I will miss the 8 gallons per hour :(
Lou, no low flights over lake Pleasant, the last DA40 pilot that did that :( paid with his life...

I love that Sedona airport. I have photo after photo of our plane parked there on our way across the country. Seeing yours made me smile.

Same here. Sedona is a favorite of ours for Spring Break. Should definitely be on every pilot's bucket list.

N971RD with R(udy) and D(exter) when they were 9 and 7. And then when Dexter was 18.
