Great videos! All the best for the rest of your trip. How did you avoid HF on the Atlantic crossing?

Hallo Robert, danke! I did have my Yaesu ft857d with me, and declared HF in the FPL, but unfortunately 2 hours into the flight it stopped transmitting, but Gander allowed me to use SatPhone instantly. Checked system in Austria, 2 compounding problems: old/weak battery, and insufficient gounding of equipment. Both sorted out for the Pacific crossing (Tahiti-Easter Isl-Chile) coming up soon...

Hi Wolfgang,
how did you manage landing and overflight permits in Russia?
Did you use a professional dispatcher?

Yes, I used Streamline. They cost 400 Eur per landing, and we had 12 of those, so it added up, plus navigation, airport charges, but Russia is not US! Each airport has their own controls and cliques, and the Streamline contractors seemed always to have a good relation with ground staff, security, ATC/Tower, Fuel, and all the other good spirits you need at an airport. And since as foreigner you can only land at international airports, those are by definition more complex....Wilfried wrote:Hi Wolfgang,

Just wow! incredible. How many hours in terms of flight time was spent on this trip? Did you service your DA42 in some place or was 100 hours enough for the trip?

Wr. Neustadt to Osaka was 38h33 TT. I had the 100hs done in Austria, and have calculated 45 hours from Osaka to Ardmore, where a Diamond Service station is waiting to receive N430PS end Oct.Pehu wrote:Just wow! incredible.
