Removed one of the four small bolts that attach the front of the seat to the support and installed one of these with the appropriate size allen-head bolt.

Nope.
To elaborate, the "flexible" arm isn't. You can intentionally deflect the thing elastically a bit in flight if you choose, as there is flex in the rubber balls. But it doesn't move on its own. And the iPad is isolated from engine/airplane vibration.

I bought it years ago. I believe it's 6". The ball-end adapters make it about 9" center-center. I don't see it on RAM's web site any longer, but I do see the adapters there and the arm is available on Amazon. I also see a 12" which might work and obviate the additional arm I used. I will give this 12" arm a try.

This might do the same thing. These are very nice mounts.

Because I just can't quit fiddling around (Did I mention I have 5 windscreens for my bike?). In this mode the AHARS/synth vision presents right in front of me. It's still mounted on that stalk from the right side.

BTW, note the right-angle power connecting cable. I use these to help keep connectors out of harm's way and cables from being in the way of hands, controls, etc.

More fiddling. This with the 12" flex arm. Cleaner installation.
iPad Pro 11 with12 inch flex mount.jpg

I used the 6-inch + other stuff shown previously for the first time on an IFR round trip between Prineville (S39) and Victoria (CYYJ) - plus a detour to Bellingham (KBLI) for customs - yesterday, with a fair amount of IMC while North of Seattle. Everything worked great all the way. I have had to make one adjustment: My mini zulu clipboard now has to go on my left leg, as visibility to it is obscured if it's on my right leg. Not a big deal as I can still easily write on it with my right hand. (BTW, this clipboard has been my constant tool for untold years. A perfect accessory I wouldn't be without.)

It's not obvious in these pictures, but the flex arm curves around my leg. This is necessary due to the location of the seat mount bolt position I co-opted with the RAM ball.

Cleaned up a bit more. Got the arm moved more toward the console and now have routed the power wire for the iPad within the arm cover:
