A couple of notes:

1. Today (very sunny) I was doing Young Eagles flights and while the plane was parked between flights for about 20 minutes I inadvertently left my iPad Pro 11 turned on with Foreflight running facing directly facing the very bright sun. When I got back to the plane getting ready for the next flight I noticed a message on the screen complaining about the heat. It was a warning and the unit did not shut down. As soon as I rotated the iPad to its normal position the warning message went away.

2. The mini-6 comes loaded with iPadOS 15.0. This is not yet cleared for Foreflight but so far is working okay. But FF did flash a warning that under 15.0 background data refreshes are running excessively slowly so this option was disabled. Everything did load fine and it's all ready for the same uses as the previous -4.

I was at the avionics shop today and finally had the 1” RAM head mounted on the left lower panel following one of the schemes mentioned earlier. Then I used the two part RAM connector to hold the iPad mount. Result is better than the storm window mount. I can open the storm window to get some fresh air now!!
Although it has been working okay to mount the iPad on the storm window, the shakiness and incapable to use the storm window make is a lesser choice than mounting it on the left corner panel. See pictures.

I found that trying to modify either of the older EZ roller cradles to suit the -6 to be impractical. The squared-off edges are a problem, as well as the positioning of the roller and its arm. At least for now the X-mount is the way to go. BTW “My Pilot Store” had by far the best price for this mount and delivered super fast.

X mount might be helpful getting in and out of the seat since I found this mount to be a little bit in the way when I pull my left leg out. Do you see much shakiness from the x mount usage, Rich ?

Mine is center-mounted over the console and is easily rotated 90 degrees so it's a vertical plane directly over the console, completely out of the way for ingress/egress. Just a quick loosening of the ram thumb piece and Bob's yer Uncle. The stalk is quite rigid and any jiggling is pretty minimal, especially since since my most recent tweak with only one of those rubber balls joints involved. This is with the Pro 11 and EZ Roll'r. I haven't flight-tested with the X-mount/iPad yet, but I figure the considerably lighter weight will likely compensate for any added flex in the X-mount. A couple of current photos of the new setup in the next day or so.

BTW, iPadOS 15 adds some interesting capabilities. Quick Note in particular might turn out to be more helpful than FF scratch pads for inflight notes, such as copying amended clearances.

This is my current iPad mount shown in its "parked" position, for ingress/egress. That stalk coming up from below is rigidly attached to the front of the seat.

RAM mini-6 cradle has just started delivering. Nice clean snug fit and solid hold regardless of orientation. But as with the iPad Pro 11 mount, if one wishes to have the Apple pencil properly secured to the iPad for maintaining its charge, a bit of Dremel tool work is called for.

With the now shared use of my Pro 11 for both front seats, my wife has exercised veto over the use of a mini, since the icons and screen are essentially half the size of the Pro 11 presentation.

Rich, from their photo on the site it looks like the pencil sits with iPad mini with some outboard supports holding it all in place. Did they screw it up somehow?

I got mine and it feels REALLY tight on my ipad mini 6. Almost feels like the roller-clamp is bending the iPad. How tight is yours?

Those brackets work for holding it in place but it stands it off from the edge of the iPad. This works to a point but prevents the pencil 2 from being charged by the iPad. The same thing is true for others of theirs like my Pro 11. The fix, if one cares, is to cut some of the edge away on that side with a Dremel tool, leaving the hooks in place should you desire. This does not compromises the holding ability at all.
