Re: ADS-B ground receiver feed to Flightaware.com
I was looking into this as well Fred. About a year ago, FlightAware and a German tracking company like them both offered to provide me with pretty good receivers and antennas with wireless links to my LAN wireless in exchange for locating and powering them in a suitable location in my mountain area (I have low/no FAA ADS-B coverage in many of the passes). It helps the tracking companies and therefore pilots indirectly but I don't think it provides a direct service for pilots who are flying in the area because it uploads real-time data to the tracking company, not the locked down FAA system. Maybe someone else has installed a unit and can fill us in.

I am running a PiAware station at my house since November of last year. The only reason I have done this (aside from geek factor) is that Flightaware grants me an Enterprise account for doing it.
Enterprise accounts give you all sorts of cool capabilities... which I actually use!
Totally worth the $85 or so USD I put into it.

Correct. My system feeds Flightaware and doesn't do anything else.rwtucker wrote: I don't think it provides a direct service for pilots who are flying in the area because it uploads real-time data to the tracking company, not the locked down FAA system.
