Good eBay deal on Diamond spring scale tool

Post by keithPTC »

Potential good deal alert! There is a seller on eBay selling six (6) Chatillon 719-020 Hand-Held Spring Gauges. These are the 20lb model that are perfect for our Diamonds. Especially for checking: nose wheel tension; flap load adjustment; and canopy grip force. The mx shop at the local Diamond flight school uses this tool.

This particular model sells for $170 new. The eBay seller is selling them for $85 with free shipping or Best Offer. Earlier this evening I offered $50 and it was accepted with free shipping! I have already received the UPS tracking number.

If you have been looking for the proper tool for these adjustments, check this one out.

Mine is set to "Pounds"

Since taking the nose wheel fairing off I doubt I will be using the scale very often

I bought one of the spring gauges (despite the fact that I had successfully used my electronic fish scale for 12 prior Annual Inspections and various adjustments in-between). I was reassured that my fish scale read exactly the same as the spring gauge (you have to be consistent in how you measure, since you are measuring the breakout force, which is higher than the pivot force).

But, as my wife would tell you, there is no bad excuse for Steve to buy a new tool...
