Powered Headsets

Post by Colin »

Okay, I am about to start the process of installed LEMO plugs for the four headsets in my plane. *Before* I start to do that, I remember something about the headset jacks HAVING power in them, via "tip power." But only Sennheiser headsets had a plug that used that (they have since exited the aviation market).

If the power is THERE, shouldn't it be possible to find what the plug would be, and then make a LEMO adapter instead of installing *new* jacks and doing a bunch of wiring under the seats?

You should run fresh power. I have a powered Bose style plug in my 42 and it doesn't work 100% of the time so I don't use it.

Hi Colin -

This does not address your specific question about an adapter, but per this post (link) I installed the Lemo jacks in my DA40. Having power already at the audio jacks between the seats made the job easier, but there is plenty of tedious work involved.

Particularly since the recent Bose A20 update, having all the headsets power on automatically is very convenient.
