My question was never whether or not folks breaking the law routinely get away with doing so. It is simply whether or not the law still applies.

Separately, getting busted breaking one law does not prove that one did not break another. Your tale was of an FAA violation. That the FCC was not involved in prosecuting a separate violation does not prove the violation did not take place.

Does anyone know of suspension, revocation, or exceptions to the law that would allow for cellular voice and data use while airborne? I fully understand that those whose livelihood do not depend on possessing an FCC radiotelephone operator permit think little of putting it at risk. Those of us who do, however, cannot take that chance. We need to see something in writing declaring the practice okay.

Interesting factoid, it’s not illegal in Canada.
