I have to believe that in 2 years from now Diamond will be delivering the DA62 with the current components of the time. If they are still behind on technology installation, you can always take delivery and likely sell it immediately after for a nice profit.

It's on the agenda.

This sounds really funny. Faith in Diamond resulted with nothing - just waiting for few years after we started to address the problems. Of course they know the problem but they are doing nothing to address it and they will not bring anything to the market as long as their order book is full. They feel safe because nobody will cancel the order because of few software features missing. DAN6 has been trying for some time to get any kind response from DAI but with not much success. We'll see whether something will change in following days.

In two years they will be delivering DA62 with components and software of today.

If their past behavior is any indication, in two years they will be delivering what Cirrus, Beechcraft and Textron were delivering two years ago. A DA40NG is delivered today, and presumably into at least early 2022, with the same avionics and software that Diamond was delivering in early 2019 - G1000 NXi Phase II. Three years without any change in the avionics. Not even updates for the steady stream of bugs for which Garmin has issued fixes (like one that results in not plotting all ADSB-IN aircraft traffic).

Diamond engineers airframes and engines and does not think that avionics are worth the effort of certifying. Why? Because flight schools are the only customers with whom Diamond has direct contact and their students spend most of their time in the pattern or doing maneuvers. The features of interest to private pilot owners flying cross country missions don't overlap with the features of interest to flight schools. Cirrus is all about private pilots flying cross country and keeps their planes on the leading edge of Garmin's products.

You would think that Diamond's engineering investment in the DA50RG, clearly not a flight school product, and the backlog on the DA62, would shift their emphasis. But thus far there is no evidence of that. As far as I can tell, the DA50RG has the same NXi Phase II software as Diamonds was shipping in early 2019. And I don't see any blue "LVL" button on the panel of a DA50RG; that button was introduced by Cirrus in 2008 in the SR22G3.

Sadly, as Emir points out, so long as there is an order backlog, Diamond apparently feels no pressure to up their avionics game.

Just for clarity, there was a blue LVL button on the DA50 panel at OSH. Just to the right of the gear lever. So that will be there. Diamond folks assured me it will be on all new DA50s and, I believe, on all 62's delivered starting in 2022 (if memory serves). It wasn't on the 62 they had at OSH because they had the certification 62 there, not a new aircraft.

We should still pursue the status of Phase III of course on all models, both new and retrofit issues. But they are not standing completely still, in fairness. I'd post a pic but I can't figure it out. But I have the photographic evidence of the blue button!

Cheers

Watch this video of a new DA50 being delivered to a Swiss customer. Look carefully and you can clearly see the little round blue Level pushbutton on the panel, located directly underneath the Standby Attitude Module (SAM) backup gauges in the center of the panel.

You can also obtain a copy of the DA50's G1000 NXi Pilot's Guide from Garmin; the software described is GDU Version 21.60:

https://static.garmin.com/pumac/190-02799-00_b.pdf

This all seems to indicate NXi Phase III functionality.

OK. I stand corrected. In 2022 we can expect Phase III, just three years after Phase II.

Is the DA50 type certificate in Austria or Canada?
