Hi,
I'm looking for some information on the level of noise in the cabin during cruise flight. Is it quiet enough that you don't need headsets for passengers? Any qualitative or quantitative feedback would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

You could check out this post with some experiments I did in 2013:

Re: Interior Cabin Noise
When I first flew in a DA42 the salesman had me take off my headset so I could see how "quiet" it was. I have never had a passenger do any part of a flight without the headset. I have heard the Austro engines are quieter and smoother (less vibration), and I imagine the DA62 is a little quieter in general (better interior), but I don't think people are going to fly in it without some hearing protection.
(Our younger son hated his headset. So he flew with those little foam ear plugs for the first year or so. Then I got him a Clarity Aloft headset instead.)

Re: Interior Cabin Noise
While all my passengers remark on how smooth and quiet the Austro engines are, it's still much too loud in the cabin of the DA62 to go without hearing protection in flight.

Re: Interior Cabin Noise
My casual science experiment results, admittedly using only a phone app (Decibel X set to "Z" weighting):
our DA42VI averaged 101 dB doing 153 KIAS, 2070 rpm, 85% power, props not perfectly sync'd. Wish we had prop sync. Min and max dB over a 1 minute test was 93 dB and 105 dB, respectively, as the props went in and out of phase.
Goes to show if you could synchronize the propellers, you could cut sound dramatically. Not a place I'd want to be for over 15 minutes without a headset.
Sorry for volunteering DA42 data in a 62 forum.

Re: Interior Cabin Noise
I can take my headsets off and talk to my wife or kids in the 2nd row of a 62 if we want to. Have to talk loud, but we just use headsets. Pistons are pistons and will never be quiet enough like business jets.

Re: Interior Cabin Noise
I spent 10 hours this week flying a 62. It's vastly quieter than my 40 -- it's entirely possible to hold a reasonable conversation between two people in the front seats without headsets.
Still, you want the headsets. Really.
