Marco, we are working a plan that looks like this.... My local shop is trying to get authorization from Diamond Canada to remove the fuel pump (pretty simple) and send it back to Diamond for the repair. It's my understand that to pull the gear that needs replacing inside the pump it requires a specialized tool that even some Diamond shops don't have and are likely to invest in.

I'll get an update tomorrow but so far Lifestyle and Diamond have been unresponsive... seemingly a little swamped by this.

Update.... My FBO are talking directly to maintenance at Diamond now, the plan to fix this doesn't seem all that clear. Some experienced personnel at our end even think this might become an AD!!

I was informed this is now an AD and I cannot fly my plane until it is repaired. But waiting on schedule to get it fixed.

SUMMARY: The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Austro Engine GmbH E4 and E4P model diesel piston engines. This AD was prompted by a report of oil pressure loss on an E4 model diesel piston engine. This AD requires removing a certain oil pump from service and replacing it with a part eligible for installation. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.
DATES: This AD is effective August 23, 2021.
The Director of the Federal Register approved the incorporation by reference of a certain
publication listed in this AD as of August 23, 2021.
The FAA must receive comments on this AD by September 20, 2021.

Sorry, the company that sold my DA40NG was confused. My plane was not affected by the AD regarding oil pump. I verified this in the engine log book. My plane is however affected by the fuel pump issue and they are waiting on parts for it.

I have to get it done by September 11 or 40 hours from date of notification which is August 11.

Am I the only one "quietly" losing my mind over here??? Still no word back from Diamond on action plan or repair dates... I've been AOG since 22nd Aug. albeit somewhat voluntarily. I was 20hrs into the MSB allotted 40 and was slap bang in the middle of my IFR training. Continuing to shoot multiple approaches with a potential catastrophic failure item didn't seem smart.

Any updates from elsewhere would be welcome....

Today I was told Diamond is going modify the MDB … I flew 3 hours today but now grounded since there is not a clear direction yet….. I am also training for IFR so not an ideal time to be sitting on the ground! Supposedly correction to MDB is total 40 hours or 30 days from 8/11 which I have exceeded already ….

I got word this weekend of series of "online training classes" that Diamond/Austro are providing to local FBO's to train techs how to replace this gear locally. Forgive me if I sound cynical.... Diamond is clearly trying to avoid having hundreds of pumps sent back to them.

Even with the online training fix, there's still no word on parts availability for the gear itself! I'm being told any flying in my aircraft in September is highly unlikely.

In EASA land, there is a new AD concerning the issue. Also the MSB was revised and basically grounding a lot of planes affected, including my few months old DA62. Aviation joy.

https://ad.easa.europa.eu/ad/2021-0203-E

According to Austro, if the spur gears need to be replaced, they will arrive to stock in early October (at least here in Europe). They will send the kit then - I presume with the tool needed to replace them.

Hoping to get my plane's gear checked this week, since there is another DA62 in the same hangar going through scheduled maintenance. They will check my plane's engines at the same time.
