SureFly is a company that is making an affordable solid state replacement for a magneto. I've been following them, they have an engine STC, but still need an airframe STC. I received a email from them this evening requesting EGT/CHT performance for their airframe STC. It looks like they are going to use the responses to guide which planes are on the AML. If you like this, it would help if a number of diamond owners would respond for them to have a Diamond STC : https://www.surefly.aero/survey

I filled it out. Whether you plan to install one of these it would be helpful to fill out the survey to support out those who might wish to. Kind of like that G1000 software update petition many of us filled out.

The survey form presented did not request EGTs, but CHT's and oil temps.

That is interesting. I didn't realize it, but they are located at Granbury, TX. We fly in there several times a year for one of the monthly EAA Chapter Pancake Breakfasts.

SureFly receive the airframe STC for the SureFly Ignition Module on February 19, 2019 and DA40s are included on the approved model list. However, the advanced-timing mode has not yet been approved for use on planes other than the Grumman AA-5Bs and 470 powered Bonanza.

Has anyone seen any fuel savings or performance projections one could expect when a SureFly Ignition Module is installed with advanced-timing mode enabled on an IO360M1A?

I got a response back from Katherin Jowers at SureFly this morning indicating they have not done any fuel saving or other performance testing yet on their electronic ignition. They expect to starts some on a limited basis over the next few weeks.

She also emailed me and said that the advanced ignition timing capacity for DA40 is expected in a few months. Nice to have a quick reply.
