Thanks for the feedback guys.
@Thomas yes the take-off run was very long but the engine was making full power, so I guess that’s what it is on a sloped runway at 2000 ft... I must also say that I normally wait until 80 KIAS for rotation, although the aircraft can do it sooner. I like how it behaves at 80 better.
@Rich, @TimS, thanks for the courteous nudge - I certainly did not look for the trouble and humbly admit that turning inland was a bad decision.I should have rejoined IFR before attempting the diversion.
Galatea effortlessly punched through the pouring rain back to IFR safety, but I am not proud of it and certainly would not do it again.
@Jean: it is Garmin Pilot.

I have meanwhile posted the second episode as promised, including a good bit of flying on a moonless night. That’s where the advanced avionics were extremely helpful. You’ll notice I actually loaded a VFR approach instead of the NDB in the GTN 750- thanks Garmin for this great feature.

I never cancel IFR when going to IFR location. Absolutely no need for that.
