The G1000 is currently a STC installation on the DA40. We are in the process of having it transferred to our type certificate where we can make changes such as a software update here at Diamond. At this present time, I do not have a known date as to when the transfer will be approved or when we can expect to produce an update. Feel free to check back with us at a later date for any changes.

As mentioned above for owners of the 2008 era DA40’s, we are looking to have this STC transferred to our type certificate. Until then, an additional antenna will have to be installed. We do have provisions for the mounting of the antenna. Have your avionics shop contact us and we would be more than happy to provide them with the instructions.

I'm very disappointed in Diamond's response. At this point I'm still holding out to see if something changes before 2019.
Since you posted this, the DA40 Type Certificate was successfully transferred from Austria to Canada. So Canada will now be able to work with Garmin to provide DA40 software updates.
