Re: AHRS Failure
I experienced AHRS failure during a long CC on Saturday between Victoria, BC and Provo, UT. It was really aggravating as I expect that stuff to be bulletproof. I had the avionics tech look at it today and he believes the magnotometer has failed. I was hoping for a connector but he does not believe that to be the case. He has ordered a replacement ($600) and will see if that solves the problem.
Honestly, it was the worst flight I have ever had. Lots of weather to divert around, AHRS failure and a fuel PSI warning over the mountains north of Boise, Idaho. I turned on the fuel pump and the warning turned off after a few minutes. I did set a direct course to the nearest airport (not close enough), while glued to the instruments to see if anything else would indicate low PSI. Fortunately, everything was very stable and I appear to have fallen victim to a known 40 issue of a erroneous fuel PSI warning.
