Re: Diamond Aircraft Sold!
Here is a link to an Austrian newspaper confirming the deal (in German)
http://m.noen.at/wr-neustadt/diamond-ai ... 71.970.494
No details about the future, just the info, that there will be investments in Wiener Neustadt in the future. So we will see....

I wonder what that will do to their defense business. No way the Western militaries will (or should) do business with a Chinese-controlled company.

Re: Diamond Aircraft Sold!
The specialized airplanes are mostly sensing platforms and sold to non-military entities. I don't think Diamond has any armed aircraft. There really isn't any reason to buy or not buy a sensing system from any particular country. After all, your smartphone has many Chinese-produced sensors today ...

Didn't say they were manufacturing warplanes...
Surveillance tech is (supposed to be) highly protected. The technology in smartphones is advanced, but nothing compared to what is in some military platforms. Take my word for it (or not)...

Re: Diamond Aircraft Sold!
I'm unaware of a single vice regarding Chinese investment in General Aviation at present so I think this is great news for Diamond. Currently I believe Diamond management lives in a bubble, a vacuum where Diamond aircraft are sold sans competition. Mooney has received the greatest design change to the M20 series since the J model, Continental has become the largest piston engine builder and parts supplier, and Cirrus has done nothing but continue to innovate and expand since each of their Chinese buyouts. Personally, I'm hopeful the DA40 may finally see a model that could best be described as a Gen2, a -VI comparatively.

And I too believe, that this is great news and hopeful for better marketing and listening to what people WANT and WILL BUY!
it's just unfortunate that with all the great minds in North America that they can't make these companies more successful without having to go to China for assistance.
As I mentioned, I am happy this company has confidence in the product to hopefully take it to the next level and beyond! We may be in for some exciting times ahead - let's have our fingers crossed for this!

Re: Diamond Aircraft Sold!
What's interesting is what the Chinese allegedly know that apparently know one else knows regarding their perceived ability to further advance just about every aircraft company or any company for that matter that they scoop up. Must be something in the water over their, or, the air maybe.

Antoine, you have better sources than Flying Magazine and AVWeb! Does a career in aviation journalism beckon?Antoine wrote:Wait: my sources say this is a FULL sale of the whole DAI group (remainder of Canada and 100% of Wiener Neustadt).

Re: Diamond Aircraft Sold!
It seems the Chinese always purchase advanced Western technology and make it better......a few: Pirelli, Volvo, GE Appliances, Hoover, Motorola, IMax, even the Waldorf Astoria.
