Yet another flying "car".
I only post this because it's being developed here in the unlikely spot of Prineville, OR. Now expected first flight "later this year".

Call me, at the very least, highly skeptical.

Re: Yet another flying "car".
It does not say too much. Engine type? No interior pictures. 26 pounds of wing loading and 200mph seems high for novice pilots. Anyway, thanks for posting.

It looks like they're building their own engine. No real detail, but presumably this is some modification of an auto engine or some such.
No kidding about that wing loading

Not really a flying car, but immensely more useful, as it needs neither roads nor runways. Doesn't even need petroleum fuel. And, it actually exists:

Actually, in my opinion, this type of air vehicle is where we are going in the future.ultraturtle wrote:Not really a flying car, but immensely more useful, as it needs neither roads nor runways. Doesn't even need petroleum fuel. And, it actually exists:

Yes, the Lillium will be really interesting once Elon lets other people use the secret batteries he's using in the new Roadster. We'll see how that shapes up in the next two years.
Flying cars have always been around. The Moeller was out there forever. There's a flying car at the museum on Boeing Field that actually flew and drove a bit. In general it seems like a really stupid idea. I don't want a $200,000 car that if I bump while parking becomes unairworthy. And I don't want to drag around all the stuff I need to be roadworthy when I am in the air.
How is that Terrafugia project coming along? Oh, the Chinese bought them up. Deliver of their first model in 2019. I wonder if there are any original deposit-holders left.

As stupid as supercapacitors are for automobiles (Musk) and as stupid as lithium ion batteries are for aircraft (Lillium), when one switches the two, the appropriate power source for each becomes clearly evident to even morons like me.

Good call and makes sense.ultraturtle wrote:As stupid as supercapacitors are for automobiles (Musk) and as stupid as lithium ion batteries are for aircraft (Lillium), when one switches the two, the appropriate power source for each becomes clearly evident to even morons like me.
