e-Diamonds

Post by Wilfried »

Looks like the future of our DA(42) Diesel powered planes (photo taken last week in Wr. Neustadt - LOAN).
Siemens seems to flight-test our beloved planes with electrical engines.

So JET and Diesel Diamonds - FULL THROTTLE this weekend!
(before German "Diesel Angst" takes over!!!)

Actually, that appears to be a DA40 airframe (note the landing gear), with two motors on pylons attached to the fuselage! That is a unique upgrade path for us DA 40 owners...

It is a DA-40 hybrid. I believe there is a diesel in the nose that charges a battery that in turn drives the electric motors attached to the fuselage (sort of a la a HondaJet, but up front). Fascinating design in many ways.
