GPS Hiccup Coming?

Post by Tom Davis »

Has anyone here heard anything about this:

https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2019/ ... s-systems/

Today was the first time I had heard anything about this potential issue. I am assuming that there is not likely to be a problem; otherwise, folks like the AOPA would be sending out all sorts of notices and articles.

I have a AFS-5600 in my expiremental. Advance Flight Design sent out an email advising us to install a patch. It was noted that GPS location was not an issue but many other things were affected. I've not heard if the G1000 programming/hardware have a problem with the Rollover.

Since the G1000 was certified before the last epoch change, I assume it handles it just fine.

This service advisory from Garmin states that there are no known issues for any of their aviation devices relating to the April 6 "rollover":
