Autopilot/Electric Trim Circuit Breaker
In the, hopefully, unlikely event of a runaway Autopilot or Electric Trim which does not disengage for whatever reason using the red AP Disconnect button, you are left with no other option but to pull the circuit breaker.
There may be very little time available and, therefore, to INSTANTLY recognise this particularly important and, above all, correct circuit breaker, a very effective and inexpensive way is to add a red ring as per the photograph shown.
I am really happy to have this fitted!

Re: Autopilot/Electric Trim Circuit Breaker
I did the same thing on my aircraft. I had a runaway pitch trim in my first year of ownership. I was able to overpower using the stick, and disengaged the autopilot using the red disconnect button on the stick. Turned out to be a bad KC-140 box. Replaced under warranty...

Re: Autopilot/Electric Trim Circuit Breaker
Not that I've ever had to pull this breaker, but my DA62 (and all others I've delivered) came fitted with the red collar around the autopilot circuit breaker. Interestingly my DA42-VI didn't have it.

Re: Autopilot/Electric Trim Circuit Breaker
I've added the collar to both of the DA40's I've owned - you can buy them at Spruce or Sportys. I've never had a trim problem, but I did pull the CB a few times in my old DA40 to reset the pitch servo after it faulted when I was having problems with it. It's the only CB I've ever messed with in flight, and it's nice to have it marked just in case.

My Star came from the factory with a ring on the AP circuit breaker also. It is white though.

But white shows up better at night.

Re: Autopilot/Electric Trim Circuit Breaker
Sorry for a naive question.. I bought a ring for CB but couldn't figure out how to install it... Do I have to completely remove the CB?

Re: Autopilot/Electric Trim Circuit Breaker
Just push it over the CB and it will expand and fit tightly.
The red ring was delivered with my DA62 but good to show for those who did not receive same.

Re: Autopilot/Electric Trim Circuit Breaker
There is a FAA SAFO regarding black and white collars as they can cause confusion about the CB status (SAFO 14006).
