I hadn't been over to the West Side of the Cascades for awhile and had kind of forgotten what it was like to depart at DA 0f 400 ft., rather than 4,000 ft. Hoorah!
It was entertaining for the AWOS of the 163 ft. KMMV to actually broadcast that the DA was 400 ft. My home field doesn't bother until it exceeds 4,500 ft.

Re: The reverse Density Altitude problem :)
Being a flat lander it always amazes me how much you have to lean out when flying out west. A number of years ago I had to rescue out club Da-40 from Walden CO. At almost 8200' elevation I has to pull the mixture quite a bit. On the plus side I got up to 17.5k relatively quick when I found me some lee wave lift
800fpm at 13000'. It went up to 1000 fpm for a bit It will get up to 17.5. Wasn't so happy Just some pretty CO pics
