That is correct.
My Da40 has GFC 700
Would GNS 530W be needed to enable the FS?
That seems a lot of investment for the luxury of Foreflight functionality :(

That's impractical for you anyway. The integration needs to be with your primary nav environment (in your case G1000, in mine GNS530W). The 510 is intended for that, but, as with some other G1000 functions, there are complications. The 210 is positioned for various legacy aircraft. There are many tens of thousands of GNS/GTN units out there the 210 would work with.

I'm pretty sure I've seen threads on FS210's added to DA40's, but maybe it was a 42. There was discussion about hacks to make the BT work better, etc.

I'd search the forum before giving it up.

I'll do a little more search, but I believe one of the threads was Rich's FS210 which he just responded not practical for my G1000 :(

The only documented navigator interfaces for the FS210 are Garmin GNSxx0W and GTN units. The 530W also needed a software update. Unlike all the convolutions of the G1000 it's perfectly straightforward. And there are no bluetooth problems to address. I believe there's some confusion here with regard to GTX345R/EFB BT integration/communication.
