Terrestrial internet is a patchwork of monopolies. One half of my little town has AT&T fiber, the other half Xfinity/Comcast on legacy coax. I'm on the Xfinity half with 400Mbs for $80, while the AT&T crowd gets 1Gbs+ at the same price.
With Verizon LTE I get unlimited 50-100Mbs on six mobile devices for $200. AT&T wireless coverage is pretty bad over most of the town.
The carriers exploit their monopolies. I don't think there is any "best" carrier. It's all about what is available to you at your location. So much for the power of the markets.
Aren't you glad we didn't privatize the interstate freeway system?
YMMV.

Russ, in your situation I would probably move to the other half of town. Unless you're currently closer to the airport.
