Auditing IAPs

Post by Rich »

My home airport has RNAV approaches, but no LPV, just LP and LNAV. But when flying these, they show up as LP+V, so I get a pseudo-glideslope. In theory there is no guarantee that this glide slope would not bust one or more of the more “correct” minimum altitudes at the step down waypoints. A couple of days ago I flew the RNAV 29 and checked altitudes at crossing each of the waypoints and confirmed that for this approach and this release cycle there’s no problem with following the GS all the way down. Seems like a worthwhile exercise when practical.
