DA20 - Winterization Kit

Post by Wsoethe »

Hi All,

With low temperatures, I think it is time for me to install the winter kit.

Is anyone know where I can buy it?

Thanks in advance!

I was in the same boat - I purchased the kit from a Diamond distributor ($$$) but only got the inlet baffles. Be sure you specify both inlet and outlet baffles. Even with the inlet baffles installed, the oil temp was still just barely going in the green in the real COLD temps - so I think that the outlet baffles might make all the difference to get those temps back up.

Call your favorite Diamond distributor and they can get it for you - but be prepared for sticker shock! (We should be used to it by now, right?!)

Is your distribuitor online? Do you happen to have the part number?

Here is a link to the Illustrated Parts Catalog(ue) for the C1 - http://www.diamondaircraft.com/wp-conte ... Rev-10.pdf

And here is a SB for the winterization kit - DAC1-71-03 Rev 0. If you review the bulletin, you will find the part number(s) for the kit (DAC1-71-03-AMK0) In 2013, the list price for this kit was $634.73. I expect it's a good deal more today.

I live in Florida and don't spend winters to my north. Previous owner needed to worry about Nebraska winters - I don't and won't. Last year I pulled off the electric heater element (110V plug) that was installed - still sitting in the corner of my hangar...

I have 2 winter baffles, one under the left wing and one on the right side of the prop, the intake vent. Which out take vents need to be covered in winter?

Thanks

here is a picture of the baffles. There are two small baffles located in the front of the upper cowl to narrow the intake. There are two baffles on either side of the nosegear strut at the back of the bottom cowl.

Hope this helps,
