Gap between canopy and canopy frame
There is 1/8th" foam type material that is dried up and coming loose. Looks terrible. Went to the hardware to find something similar and durable to replace it. Found "screen retainer spline". Various thicknesses. If you have a screen door, this locks the edges of the screen into the channels. Rubber like material, gray. FWIW.

Re: Gap between canopy and canopy frame
DA-20 AMM states "The canopy has a tubular rubber seal. The seal goes round the edge of the canopy frame. When
the canopy is closed the seal touches cockpit sill."
DA-20 IPC has Figure item 040 Part Number "CVR95" . . Seal, T-Section
and Figure item 050, Part Number "108H2-SP" . . Seal, D-Section
See attached picture of IPC page

Re: Gap between canopy and canopy frame
Mark it is not the seal indicated....it does not touch the cockpit sill. It is the foam-like insert in the very narrow gap between the clear plastic and the canopy frame. Wish I could explain it better for you....I will try to take a picture if I can figure out how to post it.
It is a black foam like filler....maybe in some planes that have been repainted, it blends?

Should be able to click on the "Full Editor and Preview" button and post a JPG - I'd be interested in seeing what you are talking about. My DA-20 lives in a hangar and does not live in Canada thus no below freezing operations - though it lives in Florida where most of the Canadians spend their winters. Anyway, I wonder if it was something added outside of the Manufacturer.

Re: Gap between canopy and canopy frame
I think you will probably like that price better than diamonds.
about a dollar per foot. My records show about 15.5 feet required per canopy.
